Principal's Message

August, 2020

Dear Edison Families,

Dear Edison Student Families, We hope that you are continuing to enjoy summertime with your family. If you are new to Edison this year, welcome! And if you have had students already at Edison, we are excited to welcome you back to Edison for the upcoming school year! The staff is working hard to prepare for the first day of school on Thursday, August 27th. Even with the need to start the year in Distance Learning, we are looking forward to another great year with our Otters!

Our school and district staff has been working hard during the summer to provide the best educational experience for students. Ongoing updates and information about planning for the 2020-21 school year can be found on the AUSD Redesign Plan webpage.  On that page you will find a variety of resources relating to both the Flexible Learning Program as well as the Remote Learning Program.    For clarification purposes, here are some of the primary differences:

  • The Remote Learning Program (in green below) is a program that will remain in virtual learning all year long. It is intended for students who may not be able to return to in-class instruction this school year. Remote Learning will be in its own “school” in the district, even though students are and will continue to be Edison students, and will receive school communications as part of the Edison community. 
  • The Flexible Learning Program (in blue below) can switch throughout the year between 1) Distance Learning (at home) and 2) On-Campus, depending on county public health guidance. Students will begin this year in Distance Learning with Edison teachers, and once on-campus instruction returns, students will be meet with that same teacher back on the Edison campus.

Remote and Flexible Programs

We encourage families to log on to the AERIES Family Portal and become familiar with the tool, through which you can view your child’s attendance, grades, or medical information, to name a few. While there, be sure to also check out the rest of our website, as we have made several updates over the past year to have this site serve as a resource for the Edison community.

We look forward to working with our Edison families at making this year a great learning experience for your children.

Sincerely,

Greg Sahakian
