Mission Statement

Edison Elementary School - Library Media Center

Ms. Zoe Boese (Basie) - Teacher Librarian

Mission Statement: The mission of Edison’s Library Media Center is to help foster a curious mind and a love of reading for our students. In addition, the LMC supports the school’s curriculum by giving students access to information in a variety of formats and by teaching age-appropriate research and technology skills.  Students will become proficient information users and will gain the skills necessary to become successful 21st Century learners.

Student Routines

  • Students visit the library weekly with their classmates.

    • K-5 = 1 hr/week

  • Students may renew their books 2 times. (I often make exceptions with this.)

Overdue/Lost Books

  • Overdue notices will go home once a month.

  • Lost or damaged books need to be paid for by writing a check to the PTA or with cash.

  • Students will not be allowed to check out new books if they have overdue or unpaid lost books.

  • Lost books must be paid for by the end of the school year.

  • Contact the teacher librarian with any questions or concerns.

Library Hours

  • The library is open for a short time before and after school each day.

  • During this time students can return books and check out new ones.

  • Some kids come twice a day every day for new books!

  • The library is occasionally open at lunchtime for special projects only.
